It was a typical Sunday night. After Confirmation class the teachers all headed over to Starbucks for our weekly hangout. It was on the way there that I had realized I was out of black eyeliner. I had begged and begged my friend to walk over to Pavillions with me to buy some. Even though it was in the same plaza, she was reluctant and then eventually gave in and we headed over to the store.
While I was walking to the cashier I had noticed her talking to an old man. I went to join their conversation as she had given me her "HELP ME!" look. The man was going on telling her about all the medications he had to consume and all his medical problems. He then proceeded saying " I also have to wear supportive.." right there we swear there was a gap in his sentence as we gasped and released a breath of relief after he finished with "Stockings." He then went on about his love for Hometown Buffet and how he eats there everyday, which we concluded must be the cause to all his health problems. He went on and on about all his medical problems, it was a wonder he was still alive. And then, a transformation.
No longer was he a sickly old man, he became an elderly Cassanova. He straightened up his posture, fixed his shirt, and fed us the greatest pickup line uttered by a man in their late 80's. He turned to my friend in the midst of his self diagnosis and said, "I'm blind in one eye, but I spotted you just fine." My friend and I exchanged baffled looks and I had to turn my head to control my laughter. He then invited us to dinner at Hometown Buffet and we were able to decline politely and make our escape.
Needless to say I was berated on the walk back to Starbucks by my friend saying eyeliner was not a necessity and she continued going on about how I just had to have it. We shared the story with our friends waiting for us at Starbucks, and they were dying of laughter. 'Til this day that line has been a joke between all of us.
I guess what they say is true, just because there's snow on the roof, doesn't mean there's no fire in the furnace.
